Friday Favorites

It's FRIDAY!!

Ryan has recently started asking Matt when he gets home from work, "Daddy, is it one more day and then it's the weekend?" (even if it's a Monday- sweet buddy)

Sometimes I think Ryan would like for me to go sell buildings and have his daddy stay at home all day. And there are some days where I feel the same way! ;)

But here we are- we've made it to the weekend!

Today I wanted to share a few of my recent favorites with y'all that unintentionally all center around books/reading.

1.
The Easter Story Egg (found here)

We bought this from The Story Shop that I posted about on Instagram last week and it is the neatest book! You read one page each day of the week leading up to Easter and it walks through the Easter story with each egg matching a different day/page of the book. We've read through the whole book several times already, taking a different egg out for each page we turn, and then we'll follow the plan and read one page each day leading up to Easter Sunday. Ryan has loved it. And although we haven't talked a whole lot about Jesus's death on the cross and resurrection, he doesn't seem to dwell on the heavier parts of the story. And he's definitely one to ask questions if this helps you determine what's best for your own kids.

Last year, at 20 months, we told Ryan that Easter was about Jesus, the Cross, and the Easter Bunny. This year we're introducing more of the actual story of Easter, but are still wanting to be aware of his questioning mind and not really wanting to have conversations about death or people intentionally causing harm to others outside of the story of Jesus' death on the cross. So I tread lightly when it comes to sharing the full story of Easter at his age!

Has anyone used the Resurrection Eggs with your kids? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them!

2.
Present Over Perfect
(found here)

I am on Part 4 of this 6-part book and cannot say enough good things about it. It's so good for every stage of life, but I'm thankful it was given to me now before we've even entered the beginning of set schedules determined by other people (school, sports, etc.). If there's one thing I want to look back on and know that Matt and I have been intentional about when it comes to raising our family, it's this.

It is a quick read and such a good and needed reminder. Unless you're an empty-nester with little on your to-do list, this book needs to be next on your list to read!

3.

A friend of mine sent me this article (found here) that made me tear up and also made me ever so thankful for the tougher moments of raising toddlers. I imagine my heart will be constantly praying away fear and worry when our babies are teens! Needless to say, this article is so great to read even if you aren't in the teen stages yet.

4.
Shutterfly photo book (free book for new customers) click here

I have made 13 Shutterfly books over the years and have paid only shipping for most of them. Once you create an account and make your first book, you'll receive promotional emails throughout the year offering free products where you only have to pay shipping. I want to say the free 8x8 photo book offer (which is the size I always make) comes 3 times/year.

These are the four most recent ones I've made (sorry for the picture quality- it's early and our house is dark).

But if you've never made one, this link should let you create your first one for free! (That's what they told me anyway) ;)

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

We have tennis in the morning and a 2-year old birthday party tomorrow afternoon, and then Matt and I are going on a day date after church on Sunday!! Insert all the praise hands and party emoticons here.

Friday Favorites + I'm Guest Blogging today!

It's almost the weekend!! And in case you haven't heard, us Atlanta people have a big game to cheer for on Sunday. And while Matt and I follow college football more closely than the NFL, we will absolutely be watching every bit of the Falcons play in the Super Bowl on Sunday! Our city needs a championship. It's just time.

Today, I am so excited to be a guest blogger on Samantha Elizabeth. She titled my post "Balancing It All" but I don't think I'd give myself that much credit. ;) I would love for y'all to swing by her space and check out her blog along with my post!

Today, I am also joining Erika, Andrea and Narci to share my Friday Favorites. They are random, and some are very pregnancy-inspired, but here goes:

1.
Dasani Black Cherry Water

This is my new favorite fancy water. When you're pregnant, it's nice to switch things up with some fancy water on occasion. And this one is GOOD.

2.
Chocolate Trinity Ice Cream

Oh Chocolate Trinity. If I ate this out of the carton, it might not make it past one sitting. When I'm not pregnant, I'm not a huge chocolate fan, but when I am, gimme gimme all the chocolate. And this ice cream in particular is ridiculously good. If only Matt liked chocolate and ate this with me so that I could be less aware of how often I'm replacing the carton for just myself to enjoy. But I don't even care. It's just so good.

3.
Publix Chocolate Lover's Delight Cake
While we're on the topic, I've posted about this cake before (the last time I was pregnant), and it just needs to be mentioned again. Gah it's good. Find yourself an excuse to spend $20 on chocolate cake, and you will quickly forget it was $20 when you take the first bite. Mmmmm.

4.
Frozen Grapes
Because this happens to be the thing I crave most when I'm showing self control and taking a night off of ice cream. If you've never frozen grapes before, I'm not sure you'll ever want to eat them the regular way again! Ryan and I love this little treat. They're like mini popsicle bites. So tasty and refreshing!

5.
Prenatal Pilates Video

I'm really liking this pilates video on YouTube. It's always nice to workout with a pregnant instructor so I know that what they're telling me to do is safe for me during pregnancy. And this girl is just normal- not too bubbly or chatty or drill-sergeant-ish. I love normal in a YouTube workout video.

6.
Burt's Bees Baby Shampoo & Wash
I recently bought this for the first time and I LOVE it! The scent is my favorite. I've always loved my Mustela and Noodle & Boo, but this little product might be my new favorite.

7.
Not Your Mother's Double Take Dry Finish Texture Spray
I've posted about their dry shampoo before, but I recently tried this Texture Spray as a hairspray and I love it! I love the smell, the hold, and the feel of it in my hair- not sticky at all.

8.
Favorite Earrings & Shoes
If you missed my post from earlier this week about my new favorite earrings and shoes, you can check it out here.

Have a great weekend, friends!
And don't forget to check out my post on Samantha Elizabeth today!

Favorite Finds: Earrings and Shoes Edition

Being that I was pregnant again this Christmas, clothes weren't the most practical of gifts, so this was the Christmas of earrings and shoes for me. And if there two things I don't love spending money on, it's earrings and shoes, so I was super excited about some of the goodies that were under the tree for me this year!

Here are a few of my new favorite things in the earring and shoe department... and I tossed in one jacket for good measure, because I love a good new jacket, and jackets work well with a growing belly.

Kendra Scott 'Tessa' Stone Stud Earrings- $65
(found here)
These earrings come in 7 different colors, but I love the rose gold color shown above. The size is great too- not too big or small (see picture of size here).

J. Crew Factory Fireball Stud Earrings- $11
(found here)
These are one of my more recent go-to earrings. They're on the smaller side, which makes me feel like the "bling" can be dressed up or dressed down. They are super cute and currently 50% off!

Kendra Scott 'Dira' Stud Earrings- $50
 (found here)
This might be the third time I've posted about these earrings. So no, they weren't a Christmas gift, but I wear them all. the. time, and I couldn't write a post about earrings without including them. I love, love, love these earrings.

Michael Kors Hooded Anorak- $119.90
(found here
I love the color and style of this jacket! It's cute for rainy days and comfy for the cool, Spring days that are ahead. And it's really comfortable! On sale now for 33% off.
Sperry Saltwater Quilted Duck Boot- $79.90
(found here
Matt got these boots for me and they are SO comfortable! Like, slipper comfortable. I have and love this color, but there are many more options to choose from. These are from Nordstrom Rack and are currently 33% off. I wanted the non-shiny rubber so they wear better over time, but you can check out all of their options here.

TOMS Classic Slip-On Shoe- $29.97
(found here)
Matt got me the cutest pair of Toms for Christmas, which I was unfortunately not able to find a direct link to, but in my search, I saw that Nordstrom Rack is having some great sales on Toms flats that you can check out here. The ones shown above are 38% off and would be super cute for Spring!
Dolce Vita Kipp Bootie- $79.97
(found here)
These retail for $140, so they're currently 43% off, and y'all they are honestly so comfortable. I know I say it all the time, but I am a comfort over fashion kind of gal. In fact, I had these Sam Edelman booties (also on sale right now), but I ended up exchanging them for this pair because the others just weren't comfortable enough for me. I don't care if they're heels, I need to feel like I could run in them if I wanted to (reason 1,786 why I am not a fashion blogger). I like these because they can be dressed up or dressed down and the color goes with everything.

That's all for today!

If you missed my recipe post from yesterday, you can check it out here.

Tomorrow, I'll be guest posting about managing life and motherhood on Samantha Elizabeth and sharing my goals for February here. See you then!

Summer Essentials for Baby, Toddler & Mama + $150 CASH GIVEAWAY!!!

Today, I'm teaming up with Samantha Elizabeth and Emily Dawn to share a list of our favorite summer essentials for baby, toddler, and mama. And if that's not exciting enough, we're giving away $150 to one reader to spend on anything you want to start your summer off right!

Details for the giveaway are at the bottom of the post, but I can tell you that all of the entries come from following us on Instagram and tagging your friends, so swing over to our IG feeds, follow, and tag!

SUMMER ESSENTIALS FOR BABY, TODDLER, & MAMA

Heather's List:
Kidco Peapod (buy here): This little bed is great for travel. You can use it on the beach, for camping, and even for a more compact sleeping option in hotels. There is the original version (which I linked above) and the "plus" version, which is a little larger and costs a little more. You can read a comparison of the two here and decide which one is best for your family. I like the original because of the blowup mattress, which is a little thicker than the "plus" model's mattress, and the original is also smaller, so it takes up less space when you travel.
Here is Miss Natalie zonked out on the beach last week during one of her 2.5 hour beach naps. Bless this sweet baby girl!

Stearns Puddle Jumper Life Jacket (buy here): These life jackets are GREAT! Ryan at 22 months can float on his own, and the design pulls him forward slightly which naturally gets him ready for swimming.
Here he is with Matt at the pool last week:

iBert Bicycle Seat (buy here): We love, love, love these seats! Riding on the front of the bike lets the kids feel like they're helping with steering and allows them to see out clearly. I also like being able to talk to Ryan more easily and see what he's looking at as we ride. The install is very easy and the seat sits securely under the handle bars. A great product for summer bike rides!
Solly Baby Wrap (buy here): I talk about these wraps all.the.time. I used them quite a bit with Ryan and use them even more with Natalie. The material is light-weight (great for the hot summer days), easy to wrap, and keeps baby very secure- secure enough for a bike ride in fact. ;) Also, the owners are some of my favorite people to follow on Instagram. Love their little family and heart for mamas! You can check out their feed here.

Samantha's List:
While I am a mama to-be (baby boy coming in October!) I have to share a handful of items that I've been adding to my registry per some great recommendations from friends and family.

Rock n' Play Sleeper (buy here): I've heard nothing but amazing things about this piece of baby equipment. You can guarantee it will be one of the top most wanted items on my registry this summer.

Ergo 360 Carrier (buy here): We plan to use the Solly Baby Wrap (as Heather mentioned above) until baby gets a little bigger and then we will use the Ergo 360. My husband tends to like the structure of the Ergo a little more than the Solly Wrap, I think purely for comfort and confidence with carrying baby. So when our little one gets a bit more wiggly, the Ergo will definitely come in handy!

Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter (buy here):  As my ever expanding pregnancy body continues to grow...and grow...I've been slathering on this lovely lotion by Burt's Bees and I love it. It makes my skin feel so supple and soft. So far, no major stretch marks, although I know much of that is hereditary - but never the less...this lotion is like the spa in a tub. It is the first thing I put on when I get out of the bath.

Emily's List:
Ann Bully Handheld USB Misting Cooling Fan (buy here): We had something very similar to this when our kids were just babies to keep them cool when we were outside on hot summer days. After moving down south last year, we've quickly learned that summers are much hotter & last much longer here. So when we found out we were pregnant with baby number 3, we knew we had to get another one of these to keep our little girl cool. And after much browsing around, I found this one to be the best option! It has amazing reviews, it's not as expensive as others, but seems that the power in the fan is better than other brands. It has 3 options with fan only, mist only, and fan & mist. It does take batteries, but can also be plugged in using a USB. Looking forward to receiving this in the mail!
Stripe Print Canvas Tote Handbag (buy here): Buying a new, practical, but cute beach tote is on top of my summer to-get list. I have been eyeing this Canvas Tote Handbag to use for packing up our towels, swimmers, sunscreen, & snacks in now that the pool opened up just down the road from us. I love the design of it and that the top opening zips!
Babyganics Mineral-Based Sunscreen (buy here): This has always been my go-to sunscreen for the kids! I love that it is made up of 100% Natural NeoNourish Seed Oil Blend, with no PABA, phthalates, parabens, fragrances, or nano-particles. Has great protection with SPF 50. Perfect for little ones sensitive skin.
