Crock Pot Honey Sesame Chicken & Agave Rosemary Roasted Carrots


Crock Pot Honey Sesame Chicken
Sesame Seed Chicken is my favorite Chinese dish, so I was excited to test out this recipe. 



Found on Pinterest- original recipe from Chef in Training

Ingredients
1 package of chicken tenderloins (I buy Publix Greenwise or Trader Joe's Organic)
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons diced onion
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 3 Tablespoons water
Sesame seeds
Directions
  1. Season both sides of chicken with lightly with salt and pepper, put into crock pot. 
  2. In a small bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, onion, ketchup, oil, garlic and pepper flakes. 
  3. Pour mixture over chicken.
  4. Cook on low for 3 hours, or until chicken is cooked through.
  5. Remove chicken from crock pot, leave sauce. 
  6. Dissolve 4 teaspoons of cornstarch in 6 tablespoons of water and pour into crock pot. Stir to combine with sauce.
  7. Replace lid and cook sauce on high for ten more minutes or until slightly thickened.
  8. Cut chicken into bite size pieces, then return to pot and toss with sauce before serving.
  9. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice or noodles.

I had to used a modified corn starch, so I transferred the sauce to a pan to simmer.

Serve on rice with broccoli and roasted carrots (see recipe below for carrots).



Agave Rosemary Roasted Carrots



Ingredients
  • 1 package of Trader Joe's Organic carrots
  • 2T Agave Nectar
  • 2T EVOO
  • 1/2 tsp rosemary

Directions
  1. Peel Carrots
  2. Mix Agave Nectar, EVOO, and rosemary in a bowl
  3. Pour over carrots
  4. Marinate for at least two hours
  5. Roast of 400 for 30-40 minutes.
